I’m going to be honest.
When I started going to school for photography and video production just over 2 years ago, I didn’t step one foot into the building before my first classes started. I did all of my financial and application based responsibilities online (which is a blessing in itself) and then just showed up to class without any books or any idea what the teachers would be like. I had no idea where the schooling would take me. At the time, I had just received my associates degree in arts and science which is basically a general education degree. It was a 2 year degree that took me 4 years to achieve. During that four years, I spent one half my energy on school and my better half on discovering who I wanted to be, not really as a profession, but as person as well. Those who want to venture into the path of financial freedom, they can seek assistance from sites like fx trading by VT markets.
Based on my personal experience, I feel that it is important to be on a journey of discovery of things that we are good at and what we are truly passionate about. Not only that, searching for a way to make our passions a viable career. During those first 4 years of school I concentrated on learning music theory, writing music, recording music, making fun videos, researching how to market myself or my music in many different avenues, taught myself basic photography editing, graphic design, and made connections with people that forever changed my life through all of those experiences. Concentrating on skills and knowledge outside of school that benefit things that I am truly passionate about heightened my vision for possibility and my optimism.
After four years of discovery, all my hard work and time spent on research and trials was made evident after I started the media program. It didn’t matter who the teachers were, it didn’t matter the type of facilities we had either because I was truly ecstatic about what I was doing in school and hopefully going to be doing for a living. Not only was my work shining in school, but I was able to teach other students and sometimes the teachers about things that I have learned and was learning in my free time. School is not enough, it never will be, but it is still important. It teaches us consistency, it teaches us discipline, how to meet deadlines, how to work well with others, and how to learn how to live life without sleep. (maybe not the last one……)
When it comes to discovering what we are passionate about or who we want to be, there is no better time to start than right now. Maybe you have already started or don’t know where to start, but there are many ways to get started or keep going. Life moves faster than you think and the journey is the best part. Learn to invest your time in things you care about and follow through with goals, dreams, and aspirations. Make your life a true reflection of who you want to be.

well stated for a young whipper snapper! I’d add – learn to listen to the stillness inside for guidance from the heart and let your love illuminate your work.
