Last Sunday evening I went and saw “Wreck It Ralph” and the local cinema. It is one of Disney’s latest creations and it was awesome! I am not going to go on talking about how good the full length feature was, but I am going to talk about the short that played before the film called, “Paper Man.” Pixar has a reputation of showing shorts before most of their animated films that played in theaters that started up in the 1990s. Originally many of the shorts were created to showcase what Pixar can do since they were a privately owned computer company at the time.
When I went to go see “Wreck It Ralph” I had completely forgotten that there was a possibility of a short playing before it. I was completely caught off guard and blown away. It is now my favorite Disney/Pixar short of all time. It was a well written story that was told well visually and musically. The soundtrack for it was perfect and gave me goosebumps. I am even getting goosebumps right now thinking about it. The way it was drawn and the way it was visually portrayed really gave you a sense of the era, the characters, and emotions very vividly. It was just perfect in so many ways to me.
Sadly it is not available to view legally online, so I encourage you to go see “Wreck It Ralph” at your local cinema and check it out for yourself.
However, there is a great video below that discuss the making of “Paper Man” to get you even more excited to see it!

We took Arwen to see “Wreck It Ralph” yesterday and it is my new favorite Disney film. “Paper Man” was a pleasant surprise, as well, though no goosebumps for me. It did remind me though of how beautiful hand drawn animation can be. I was also struck by how familiar the characters seemed. I think the guy’s big nose reminded me of the man from Disney’s “101 Dalmations”. The woman also seemed very familiar, though I can’t place why at all. I note that her eyes are very large though. It’s funny that so many people nowadays associate big eyes in animation with anime, when Disney’s been drawing characters that way all along.

Now that I think of it, the male character does remind me of 101 Dalmations! Yeah, I cannot think of who the female reminds me of. I love how his boss was portrayed and his persistence upon him too. Just everything was so perfect to me. The music built up with each part of the story so perfectly. I can’t wait to see it again!
