This photograph was our first evening all together last summer. Chris drove from Minnesota, Andrew and I from Wisconsin, and Wataru from Ohio to meet up in St. Joseph, MI. Sam and his family live there, but will be moving next month. This is the last summer we were able to celebrate there for quite some time. We hope to go back there some day on our own terms. It is one of the most beautiful places In the midwest. To me it is like a sweet little ocean side that teases us all winter long to patiently wait for summer’s return.
It wasn’t that weekend of the summer that was spectacular, just about the entire summer was full of good times. Sure we have our bad days here and there and we struggle with things that come our way when we least expect them, but it is important to celebrate all the good things that have happened to us. It makes us realize all that we have done and sometimes wakes us up to realize we could be doing so much more.
Winter tends to be a tough time of year especially here in Wisconsin, the cold temperatures and snowfall keep us indoors. We have to seek out new things to do so we don’t get cabin fever. This winter I am determined to learn some new skills, build a few things, and try my best to teach all of you anything I have learned as well. Here’s to the good things in 2012 and the good things to come in 2013!
I am not in this photograph, but it was shot at 30 second exposure at about 11pm. The sky is light by the sun around the horizon and some of the noise pollution from Chicago as well.
