You will find peace not by trying to escape your problems, but by confronting them courageously. You will find peace not in denial, but in victory. – J. Donald Walters
This morning I woke up and did my usual routine.
Shower. Breakfast. Coffee.
Hello to my awesome room mate(s) and out the door to my car.
Then I got in my car and saw something I wanted to just punch in the face. Well I wasn’t that mad, but I wish it didn’t happen.
My “check engine” light came on. I really didn’t want to deal with it. I already had to get my car worked on a few times in the past 3 months. This summer I got 4 new tires on my car and got my brakes fixed a month after that. Not the best summer for my little Toyota Matrix. He’s a champ though!
I felt like not caring and trying to forget about it. The guilt set in. I knew if I ignored it, it could be worse damage. I knew that if I just got it checked out that it might be nothing. It could be something major too. I realized that if I just knew the answer to why it was on, that I would feel better than not knowing and having horrible anxiety.
I did just that. I got it checked out and it’s nothing major and I’m taking the steps to get it taken care of.
By simply confronting the problem you can ease much of your anxiety. It is a simple fact of understanding how to fix your problem that you can make progress. Letting problems grow does no good for you or anyone around you.
Take care of yourself as much as you can. You’ll love yourself for it.
