Relationships have tremendous value for us. Even when we are broke as hell and feel worthless, the greatest people in our life can lift us up. They see the potential within us. Not only that, they know how to create good within us.
Seeing the good is half the battle. Teaching others to create good is where wars are won.
You probably know someone in your life that is in a rough patch or struggling to find a sense of purpose. You can’t save everyone. I get told this all the time … and it can be easy to forget. You wan’t to help everyone. You see the good in others. You can’t let it go sometimes.
The truth is that focusing on a few people ironically helps more people in the end.
When you are able to invest your full attention into someone that needs you, you can really have a huge impact on their life. You are able to guide them to a better place while being kind, yet honest. You need to tell them what they really need to hear. Not what they want to hear. They start to realize that no one can hold their hand forever. They begin to see the good in the world through you because you don’t give up on them. You care about them. They begin to see the good in the world through you.
They begin to see the good in themselves.
When they see that good does exist, you have to teach them what to do with it. Teach them to share happiness. Teach them to be kind to others. Teach them to create things for the sake of others rather than pride. It won’t happen overnight. It won’t be easy for either of you. Mistakes will happen. There will be failure. That’s life.
When they see that they can create good. More good than they can handle, that’s when they start to influence others just like you influenced them. They learn how to give to others. Just like you gave your time and compassion to them.
Give a man a gift and he’ll be thankful for a day. Teach a man to give and he will be thankful for a lifetime. – Tweet
