We are constantly moving.
There is absolutely nothing you can do about that. Whether we are on the highway or sleeping our our bed, we are moving both through time and space. We just never really think about it that much. Why should we? There are much more important things to worry about.
One of the most important things for us to know is where we are going.
It’s not a matter of how fast or slow all the time, it is a matter of destination. At the same time, it is also important to cherish and celebrate the traveling that we do to get to where we want to go. Our adventure toward our horizons are just as important, if not more than our destinations. The journey is going to prepare us for what lies ahead and gives us a great sense of appreciation. It is not easy to go somewhere. Physically or mentally.
Perceptions are powerful.
Your perceptions eventually become your reality. I have heard this phrase so many times that I can’t say I will ever fully disagree with it. When you see a sunrise or a sunset you get an amazing feeling. You just celebrate that you exist to see such a beautiful image for that moment. When you see a tornado or hurricane coming typically you will panic. You flee. You scramble to find a solution. To make sure that you are safe.
It is how you react to something that can truly define an outcome.
Let’s go back to that tornado approaching. There are many of us that would probably freak out, but there are the few people that would really admire it. They chase them. Storm chasers have this passion for the wrath of mother nature. They are truly a different breed, but we can learn from them. They see something that is dangerous, dark, destructive and they see the good we can earn from it. They see that if we can learn the science of storms more that we can truly save more people, build stronger homes, and prevent future deconstruction of communities.
Storm chasers are the people that take bad situations and turn them into gold.
They see the horizon and turn the storm into a sunrise.
So the next time you have a storm on your horizon, how can you turn it into a sunrise?
How can you take the worst possible situation in your head and be optimistic and grow from it?
