I used to think I had to spend a lot more time on projects, but that was in the beginning. Once I understood the process or mistakes I was making, I realized how much less time and energy I could use to get the same amount of work done. Great work too.
It’s not necessarily a matter of time spent on goals, but a matter of “focused time.”
This is how I’ve been able to get more sleep at night. I used to sleep like shit. 3-6 hours a night slowly kills you. This is how I have been much more content with my life too. I actually do less things now so I feel like I am actually enjoying my days and have become more successful in my efforts.
Focused time is when you able to do work with a logical approach and defeat one problem at a time. It’s way to hard to focus on multiple problems or tasks at once. Finding a single task and defeating it is way easier. That’s just logic. Am I right? The other part of the logical approach is learning to cut yourself some slack. Focus doesn’t always mean perfection. Sometimes if you move on, perfection falls into place. That’s the beauty of working on goals. We don’t always see the end, but when we get there, it’s a beautiful thing.
Being a perfectionist doesn’t make you better than everyone else. It makes you get less work done in longer durations of time. Being ok with imperfection brings more value to your life than you can imagine. Imperfection doesn’t mean you don’t do great work, it means you value your time. You want to be able to enjoy your days and take care of yourself.
When you take care of yourself it is much easier to become focused. A healthy you is a more focused you. When you are more content with yourself, great work is a natural product of yourself.
There is nothing greater than the work of people that enjoy what they do.
Seek joy in the work that you do. You can do that simply by having gratitude for the work set before you. Focus on it, defeat it and move forward.
That my friends is something of worth.
