This is the first of many monthly posts about my favorite free WordPress themes as well as a few other platforms such as Tumblr themes in the future. I find that the platform we use to share our content is not always important, but it can be fun to change up our look from time to time and bring back focus to what’s really important.
The content.
Just click on the images or links to learn more about each theme and test out the demos. If it feels good to you, it might be a great match!
Editor
Array has some beautiful themes and the fact that they have Editor available for free is awesome. Editor is a great theme for those looking to have a clean and minimal look to their blog with a huge focus on the content through it’s solid use of typography and formatting. No only that, it is backed by Array’s amazing support team. I can say great things about their support from personal experience. Just plain awesome. The mobile viewing of this theme is gorgeous as well. A great theme for a refresh on your site.
BigFoot
With BigFoot you have some great choices if you are hoping to have a separate landing page for better conversion of visitors or to just help explain who you are in a simple, yet beautiful way. You will have to provide the imagery to make that happen of course! That’s where the fun begins with this specific theme.
The first image is a page you can create with an image slider that will be filled with basic info and even clickable buttons to get readers where you want them to go. Social links and such are available at the bottom in a clean manner. It’s pretty sexy.
Then when you go to the tab button at the top right it will reveal a horizontal menu that reveals links to places of your choosing such as your blog, which can be seen below. The blog layout can be multiple columns as seen below, or a single column with the sidebar. You can even add a sweet photo gallery or categorized portfolio! It is a great free WordPress theme for designers, photographers and many other artists. If you create things and want to share them, you will dig it.
Update: It seems that BigFoot is no longer downloadable… bummer.
What free themes have you been digging lately? I’d love to hear about them and maybe share them in the future!

I’m quite liking the look of BigFoot. As a company this would be golden, but you would have to absolutely nail the images and design for each page. Huge content space. Nice post, and great links my friend.

Thanks! I’ve thought about using Bigfoot for landing page stuff for my book, but just keeping it simple for now.
