This week I did a few impulsive things. Some out of stress, some out of emotion and some harvested from passion. Impulse can really bring us to an exciting new level in life, but impulsive behavior is generally seen as weakness. I think you can can find great strength in it though. There are many evils that can help us reveal good light.
There is nothing wrong with being impulsive if we do it with great control and led with our heart.
This week I ended up doing some writing for the Fragments book from a parking lot. I had two hours to spare and no where to go. It was completely my choice to be in that situation. I impulsively went to bring flowers to my girlfriend while she was at work. I was hoping to catch her on her break, but missed it. She works about 80 miles from where I live, but I didn’t care. I wanted to see her after work and lift her spirits. It was so nice to see her for the little time that I did. It was amazing actually.
Impulse can be driven by emotion, but it must be rational.
It was the highlight of my week to see her. I don’t regret it and never will. Not only did I get to see her, I got a ton of work done too. Two hours of sitting on a picnic table in a parking lot with no wifi was the strangest blessing. I wrote and wrote and wrote. The new environment and excitement truly drove me to work as much as I could in the two hours before she was done with her shift. That night was a perfect balance of impulsive behavior driven by emotion and passion.
When was the last time you did something impulsive that was driven by emotion and passion?

Those moments when we can let go and let other things take control… Inexplicable!
