It’s when you are on your own that you realize how much you need to survive.
Whether we are starting to walk on our own as a toddler, riding our bike to school as a kid, driving our first car in high school, or moving out and starting life on our own, we all realize we have more responsibilities for ourselves. It can be quite scary, but that fear can truly empower us to do great things. It drives us to make sure the worst doesn’t happen. We go out to do what we need to survive and even exceed our own expectations.
When we are given independence we feel like we have been given a whole new world.
As children we are given new freedoms to go farther distances by ourselves. We are given the choice to be responsible for our own good. That can mean more trust from our parents and our own safety. We learn real fast when we do things wrong. We are told when we break the rules and we are told when we are doing well. Oddly enough, the same happens when we are adults too.
When we claim our own independence we feel like we can give back to the whole world.
We realize that we have the freedom to do what is right and help others. We want to do something big, something different. We want to do more than just take care of ourselves and grow, we want to do the same and even more for others. There is a bigger sense of spirit and pride when you proclaim independence for yourself. You are not being given, but creating something new. You get to do what others have always done for you and now it’s time to return the favor.
This time you get to give a freedom to others and remind them that there is a whole new world coming their way. That is awesome.
