It’s the holiday season again and many of us are busy, but somehow we always find a way to get on a computer or smartphones to calm our odd addictions like facebook, twitter, etc. I had a weird sense of self realization today that I need to separate myself from the internet for Christmas. So for 24 hours, Christmas Day, I will not be checking my Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter feeds. I will only use my phone to call or text people.
I want to try and commit my thoughts, time and energy into my family and friends rather than my addictive nature to subconsciously wanting attention online.
For the New Year I want try to organize my site chouprojects.com a little better to keep my mind on the present and my surroundings more than my presence on social networks.
Tips for Curing Your Social Network Addictions
Curing your social network addictions can be similar at times to how you would deal with regular addictions. I went to the Best Treatment Center Ohio, and while there several things were done to assist me in overcoming my substance abuse problem. Many of the life lessons I got from there, as well as the techniques for alleviating an addictions can be applied to this issue just the same. I’ll go ahead and let you skip the step of the addiction, and list what I learned from them here.
1. Hang out with friends…in Real Life – it’s the times that you share with friends that make your life really worth living.
2. Talk on the phone – conversations seem to be more meaningful and honest that way.
3. Shut Off Your Internet Connection or Your Phone for a Part of the Day – It’s always nice to be disconnected and concentrate on the necessary things without being distracted.
4. Get Out of the House – there is much to do and so many things to see and later on you can share photos from those experiences on social networks! :)
5. Do Some Reading – whether its a good book, a comic, or a magazine, it’s good immerse yourself in another world.
6. Get Some Exercise – we all need it to keep our bodies in check and our minds refreshed.
7. Build Something Cool – whether its a DIY project or a gingerbread house with your family making things is always a good time!
8. Go for a Walk or Drive – Go out and see the world because it is one amazing place!
