There is something strange about roads, trails, rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans that really seem to give us guidance. They seem to have a sense of flow or direction. I feel like many of us just follow the beaten path because we are aware of where it leads. There is a sense of security in knowing where you are going. There is nothing wrong with having that in your life, but at times, it can seem a little bland or maybe even disappointing.
I think we all come to points in our life were we need to carve a new path, sail a new ocean, or just do things a little differently than we are used to. There is no shame in trying. The truth rings loud and clear when I talk with people that have aged their life and give me advice. They many times wish they would have tried to learn something or possibly would have been a little looser with their finances to really enjoy their life at a much younger age and do things they can no longer do.
There is something unique about photography, video, music, and just about all forms of art. Whether it be macaroni art or origami, we seem to share a connection with others about it that is a universal language. I encourage you to learn something new, improve a current hobby, or try to teach others something you are skilled at. THe idea of community through a common language through art is unique. With this outlook, I am excited to see where my career will go.
This photograph was taken on a walk with a new friend of mine. Gary has been a blessing in my life right now with inspiration, compassion, and guidance. His open mind and open heart are truly appreciated and I can’t wait to see what the years ahead will bring us.
