In 2012 I made my first logo for “Kinetic Bear.” It is the image pictured above. It was something I was pretty proud of and a lot of people still ask me about it because of how cool they thought it was. It’s pretty cool, but I don’t think it’s what I’m looking for anymore.
– First New Logo Concept –
So what’s the story behind this one? There are no bears in sight! It’s funny because people always ask me about my alias name “Kinetic Bear.” They want to know where it comes from.
Where the name “Kinetic Bear” comes from.
I was looking for a cool little nickname for myself on the internet for a few months. I really wanted to use my spirit animal. I love bears. I just think they are an amazing creation. Grizzly bears are probably my favorite. I knew that “bear” was going to be part of my alias. I love being in the woods and I tend to have a lazy/aggressive/caring nature to myself. I rest when I need it. I go after what I want when I see it and I care about my cubs (my friends) with big bear hugs.
I messed with using colors, in front of the name, but that was a bit predicable and sometimes weird. Then I thought of my nature as a person and what I do. I love doing things in general. I am always working on different things every week. I am always moving. I love to make videos and take photos. Motion pictures was a thought that came into my head. So I thought about another word for motion. It just started to make sense to use the word “kinetic.”
I am always in motion, even when at rest. My mind and spirit has a sense of kinetic energy. If I’m at physical rest, my imaginationĀ keep moving. It’s freakin’ constant and I love it.
Kinetic Bear just has a really nice ring to it. It’s easy to remember and it’s something I am proud of to call myself.
What does the new concept logo represent?
I love geometry. Shapes and lines are a visual addiction. My love for simplicity and shapes shines through this first concept. I also love the sky and the water. Blue seemed to make sense to me. White can represent the winters I survive and the white caps of the lakes during summer. The hexagons represent different parts and people in my life. People and skills have many facets to them and sometimes you can combine two different things to do something really great.
Sometimes it just takes some energy to make things work. That’s what I believe in. Plans might not be perfect, but they somehow come together and fall into place. Then they vanish and you can do it all over again… and again.
So that’s what I have so far. I hope you enjoy the GIF!

I’m liking this, man. If I was being critical, I think the font could be either larger or different. It isn’t too legible.
