You live in a time where we are able to see what everyone else is doing all the time. You constantly think that everyone is always busy creating and doing things you wish you could do. Everyone else appears to be better than you are at every moment of your life. You are never good enough.
The internet is deceiving us. You are good enough.
It’s completely unrealistic to think that your progress appears to be less in comparison to all of internet. You can get caught up in wanting to be the center of attention all the time. You constantly feel like you have to be extraordinary to everyone else.
That’s the root of the problem. Pleasing everyone else is impossible. That means pleasing ourself is impossible. That is no way to live.
Just because your expectations are less than what the world expects does not mean you can’t find success. Being the greatest of something is hard. It’s also extremely stressful. Being the greatest has great responsibility and requires great sacrifice. Are those sacrifices worth the risk? Are you willing to give up time with friends and family for a status that is temporary?
Maybe your definition of greatness has been lost in translation. What the world wants you to think is not what is always best for you. Each of us is unique and destined for a different path to greatness.
Greatness is established and maintained by what you do and how you do it; to continue wearing the mantle of greatness, the world expects a demonstration of your greatness… The price of greatness is responsibility. – Winston Churchill
Greatness is not a one time deal. It requires maintenance. It becomes a responsibility. Greatness is not about getting that trophy. It’s not about getting published. It’s not about being “known” as “that guy.”
Greatness is about taking pride in your responsibilities and constantly progressing in it. Taking care of your family is destined for greatness. Being a good friend is a path to greatness.
Greatness is not reaching a status, but maintaining one. A good father. A compassionate mother. A committed employee that use a w2 creator for the required forms in here. A dedicated volunteer. Those are great people. They are part of something bigger than themselves. Greatness is not accomplished on your own, but through others.
It’s not the responsibility that makes you great. You already are great. Therefore much is required of you.
The next time you feel like everyone else in the world is better than you remember that you are great and great responsibility is ready and waiting for you each and every day.
