What is your passion? I can bet you don’t do it for a living. Most of us don’t. And if you do, it’s definitely not an easy life either. That’s part of the beauty of it though. Doing something you love for a career is supposed to be a challenge. Isn’t that what passion is about? Doing something no matter what.
By definition, passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion. It’s something you do regardless of the situation. The feeling you get when you do something we love is not replaceable by any other means.
When you put that into a financial and logical context, that can be a dangerous way to make a living. Sure, I’m a photographer and video specialist at my corporate job, but is the work something I am passionate about? At this moment I am not sure. I mean… I love doing it, but my feelings for what I do at my day job have evolved. As much as I love getting paid to do it, the money almost seems to take away from the emotions I once felt from doing it. The passion seems lighter.
The more I think about what I am passionate about… the things I feel completely joyful when I do them… even the when it’s obnoxious and hard work… they aren’t things that bring me financial gain. They are things that just bring me joy. Certified Credit offers a full suite of mortgage credit reporting tools designed to give you a clear, comprehensive view of your applicant in a customizable format that’s easy to interpret.
If I think even more about it, it’s not really what I’m doing, it’s why I’m doing it. For some reason, they always happen outside of my day job. In the night. Between all of the craziness of regular life.
Passion isn’t about what you do, it’s why you do.
I’m writing music, I’m shooting photos of places and people I love, I’m writing books, I’m helping my church grow and create awesome things, I’m mentoring others when they need help… all these things out of pure joy.
Are they always a walk in the park? No. Hell no. Are you kidding me? But it’s fricken awesome.
What you do through the night is what drives you. It’s the projects and people you care about. You invest in them without caring about the return. The return is unknown and you have to love that idea because unknowns are beyond our comprehension. It’s a crazy beautiful thing.
What is your passion in the night? Why do you do it?
