We all seem to reach a certain point in our life where we get to the top of something. We’ve reach our goal or we have somehow been placed to the highest position we can achieve in a certain area. Maybe we are a leader of a group or the manager of a team. Maybe we have achieved a master status in something we are skilled at.
The question that eventually arises is, “where do you go from here?”
The only way to reach a higher point is to figure out how to get there and most of the time you have to get back down to reach those places. This is both a physical and mental concept to think about.
Odds are when you step down you may not know where you need to go, but you have to start somewhere. Sometimes you have to just live a little to find your next destination.
Sometimes the higher pedestal in your eyes is not the higher pedestal in those that follow you. So you have to understand what others will think and what others will say. They might severely disagree with your choice to step down in order to move forward.
There is the saying,
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
― Bernard M. Baruch
You have to know that your next achievement is for a greater good of yourself and those most important to you. Those important people are your family and your friends. They may not always agree, but they know you do what you have to do to be happy.
People hate change. In fact most of us do, but it challenges us to grow.
Not only do new circumstances challenge us, they take us to those new heights. They give us the skills and the tools we need to reach them. Like a climber needs equipment, we use our experiences to learn, endure and reach our destination.
Not all masters of skill are great teachers, but If you teach others to become masters and take your place you can become one.
Not all managers are great leaders, but if you are able to teach a team to manage themselves and someday their own teams you can become one.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is help others become greater and somehow, we become greater too.
We can’t do what we do forever. We have to let someone take or place. Don’t let them mess it up. Let them make it better.
