I know it has been going on for a long time, but the idea that we are able to photoshop and now render 3D graphic models that look just like the real thing, news and rumors seem to have reached some type of limit. Gossip and rumors have always been around and always will be. I am not saying it is going to slow down, but many things are not just becoming more believable, but the idea that we all know that photos and videos can easily be faked really amplifies how much we don’t believe as well.
It is interesting to ponder that many of us never thought Wikipedia would become a reliable source….ever. Now the tables are slowly beginning to turn with Wikipedia. The editors are gaining respect and the community is strong and still growing. There is the concept of human error because after all, it is the internet. Am I right? At the same time each and every day countless amounts of errors are made in published books, ibooks, and ebooks across the world. Books based on opinion and partial facts to make you believe that something is truth reaches the eyes of people each and every day. I honestly think wikipedia may some day be one of the largest resources for reliable sources that just about everyone trusts. How or when is beyond me though.
On a positive note, the ability to edit photographs to a surreal state or a state that is fictional, but appears real, is quite an art form. Some of it is driven by greed, but much of it is driven by imagination and a passion for the art form. There is also the art form of making surreal photographs without photoshop and I have mountains of respect for that. That is why I posted the photographs by Lee Peiling on the Photoguides website. We all ache at times for a world that isn’t real and provides a sense of infinite beauty, but we still have to remember, there is beauty all around us.
