If you are an independent artist, like me, this post is for you. I don’t have a giant following or some crazy fan base, but oddly enough one simple mobile app has changed my site traffic in a big way. I didn’t have to spend a dime either.
It has been an awesome summer with Pressgram. Especially now that it is live and available in the App store for iOS. The amount of traffic that has been driven to my creative blog has been amazing to see and it’s all thanks to Pressgram.
Just to give a little background to my experience with Pressgram, I have been using it and testing it as part of the alpha and beta testing team this summer. It wasn’t fully functional and ready to use until much later in the summer and I think the biggest thing for me was just figuring out how it was going to work for me, a digital creative and publisher.
I used to have an Instagram account and had a ton of traffic to it, but then it got hacked and I lost 899 photos and over 3500 followers. So the question remained, how would I see results? When would I see results? I believed in the philosophy of the app, but I also needed proof that it would work for me. There’s promises and then there are stats.
Guess what. I have the stats to prove it.
So how exactly does Pressgram work?
I think just about everyone will begin on Pressgram with a feeling of uncertainty. Maybe thoughts like “how can I make this work for me?” and “how can I make this happen?”. Everyone is part of a different culture or demographic. I think with some brainstorming and research you can easily apply some cool ideas to the function of Pressgram, which in many ways is similar to Instagram, but with two enormous benefits.
Here are 2 big reasons why Pressgram is and will continue to drive traffic to my blog.
1. You can publish to your WordPress blog.
That is a huge deal. Being a Pressgram user does not require you to have a blog, but if you are looking to generate opportunities through networking or potential revenue, publishing to your blog is a big deal. Traffic is being sent to you website rather than a company’s server URL. That is because you are sharing a link to YOUR WEBSITE on YOUR BLOG. You don’t need to have a WordPress to use Pressgram, but it’s going to help you big time if you do.
You don’t necessarily have to be strategic with every single post on Pressgram, but it’s nice to put some thought into it and give people a reason to gaze upon your image or link you are sharing. Every time you share a link on a social network you are opening up an opportunity and vessel for traffic to your site. Some one out there will probably click on it just out of plain curiosity. We are human beings and curiosity drives all of us. Plain and simple. More posts usually mean more views. It’s not rocket science.
2. You can now use hyperlinks in your posts and comments within Pressgram.
This is BIG. Like MASSIVE BIG. One of my biggest pet peeves with Instagram was the lack of being able to use hyperlinks in posts or comments. The fact that it took four steps to go to a URL that someone posted was just annoying and quite honestly kept me from going there sometimes. I will admit, I am one of those guys that does copy and past URLs a lot though out of curiosity. You had to select, copy, open up a web browser app and then paste.
That is four actions to go to a link. That’s Stupid.
Pressgram will allow you to do this in one click. Right on the hyperlink. One simple step.
One giant leap for mobile mankind. YES.
So now that you have hyperlinks available in your posts and comments on Pressgram you are directing traffic to where they need to be and that is fantastic. My experience so far with Pressgram has been a great one not only because I have been gaining traffic for my blog, but I have fallen in love with it’s intuitive interface and most importantly, its passionate community.
The #1 Reason Why This Changes the Game for Digital Creatives
More page views equals more exposure to your work. PERIOD.
Pressgram does that.
That’s really the answer of why it’s a “game changer” – it promotes the artist, the creative and their work unlike any other app out there in an explicit and calculable way!
