Let your light shine.
Shine? Like a flashlight? Like the sun? Like a reflection? Yes, kind of. Metaphorically speaking.
When I say shine, I mean who you really are. Your identity. What you believe. What you want the world to know. I don’t mean everything, but the good that you know that lies within you. Let the light that is within you be bold, bright and shine so everyone can see it. Tell the world that it is beautiful. Tell your friends how awesome they are. Lead your team to victory by telling them they can succeed. Thank your mother for everything she has done. Tell your father that him being hard on you was for the best and it helped you grow. Tell your brother that you are there for him if he needs you. Tell your sister she has every right to be mad at you, but you apologize for anything you may have done.
The light that you shine is a beacon for others to see. A beacon that tells others that there is hope. That there is something greater. There is faith in humanity.
We live a world with shadows and darkness. Trials and tribulations. Jealousy and selfishness. It’s not wrong to want something better or to ache for a greater life, but you have to be willing to work for it. As long as you know these greater things will benefit you and those around you, then pursue it with a noble heart. There will be struggle. There will be fear. There will be the feeling that you can’t follow through. That you will be judged by everyone else. That you will lose friends. That people will disagree. That someone will make you feel stupid.
It will not be easy, but guess what, it is totally worth it.
Time and time again, it has been made visible to me that our actions and words speak loud and clear. Alone we are just a mere light post at the end of the street, but together we provide a safe passage in the night for the entire city. You don’t have to do this alone, but there will be times when you might be. When you are the only one in the room that believes in doing the right thing. That is your chance to let your light shine. I can guarantee you that someone will notice and they will genuinely appreciate that whole heartedly.
