The greatest things we experience can pass right by us.
Last weekend while driving back from a sunrise, which was also a spontaneous decision for us, we drove by a field of sunflowers. Immediately we all chatted about how awesome it was and then I stated, “should we go back and check it out?” Everyone in the car seemed to be slightly upset that I would even ask that, which was a hilarious moment in itself. We were on no sleep and the day just kept surprising us with good times.
We immediately turned around, parked the car and hiked on into the field of sunflowers. It was such a cool experience for all of us. None of us have been in one before and we could not believe how many there were and how small we felt in the field of them. Just something I will never forget with great friends.
When you are spontaneous with decisions to do things you did not plan, you find great joy in it. You feel a grand rush of adrenaline and happiness.
This is most prevalent when you travel to places near and far. We see things in the distance and we just wonder. We tend to get stuck in schedules and time constraints. Many of us never stop to look and appreciate.
Of course, there are rules for this idea of having a random adventurous spirit. We must be safe on our travels. We need to be respectful of the property of others. Lucky for us the field had great paths for us to follow.
When was the last time you stopped to smell the…..sunflowers!?
Get out there and discover.
