Everything will eventually add up.
We do a lot of things each and every day. Sometimes I think we forget how much we actually do by the end the day. Half the time I can’t remember what I was working on. We all get so busy just doing our routines that we don’t see the value in them anymore. I want to tell you something though that might put some perspective on that.
Our routines are compilations of our habits. The bad ones keep us from moving forward.
Bad habits subtract from the sum.
None of us are perfect, but we can strive for some greatness in our life. Why not start today? The bad habits and good habits we have add up. The bad habits subtract and the good habits add to what our life is sums up to. I am not telling you to dramatically change your life to make huge strides, because most people fail when they do that. Small steps will equal huge strides over time. Big changes are hard and I will be honest. I am guilty of this myself. When you try to do a lot of big changes at the same time, you usually relapse and end up where you started.
One subtle change at a time.
If you work on one bad habit at a time and turn them off by replacing them with good ones, you can do a lot of good in your life. It’s like when you save all your extra change in a bucket. It fills up over time and when you cash in, you usually surprise yourself. The reward is always greater than the prediction. That my friends is one of the coolest parts about life. Knowing that with a little effort and patience we can expect greater things is just an amazing thing.
What bad habits can you replace with good ones to increase your happiness?
