I remember when I first came across this video over 2 years ago. It truly has inspired me to form the style that I have today when it comes to making videos. My style is mostly documentarian, but I dabble in all sorts of video productions both professionally and personally. I would like to say that my experience in writing, recording and playing music heavily influenced my need for high quality audio in all of my videos. Everything from the dialogue to the music. I have never made a fictional short before, but it is something I dare myself to do in the years to come. I have quite a few ideas in my head, but until they are planned out and organized they will stay in my thoughts and on paper.
The video below is about a little burrito shop in Marinette, Wisconsin called Blue Bike Burrito. I was inspired by the Mast Brothers video to make it and it was one of my first videos I ever made. It’s kind of funny because it even helped me land the job that I have now. If I would have never taken ambition on my own terms to make the video for Blue Bike Burrito, I may not have the job that I have today. Kind of weird to think of it that way, but sometimes we don’t realize how small turning points in our life can have such big change. I learned a ton about planning, working solo, and interacting with a subject to get the message desired. I also learned a ton about editing and telling a story through editing. Our cuts, the music choice, tweaking the audio, learning about transitions, title selection, shortcut keys, organizing files, and many other things really develop the type of content creators we become.

There is something that I have always told myself and many times have to remind myself and I want to share it with you.
“There is no better time to start than right now”
Once I had started getting into video production, everything fell into place as long as I put in the time, investments, and energy. Sometimes sacrificing my social life, family life, and even sleep.
What ever it is that you have always wanted to do or maybe inspired to do by something you have seen or someone you know, what’s stopping you from starting?
I encourage you to start it today.

Loved this Jacob. You are incredible. The Mast Brothers made quite an impression. Not only the story, but the style. Love everything about what you are doing. Would be great to talk with you as i too am pursuing a dream, passionate about preserving the stories of this area, a person’s life story, the stories of these mom and pop success stories, the multigenerational indies.. Thanks for all you are doing to capture these stories . wishing you abundant success~

– We have developed a very simple follow focus tool – perhaps you can make someting interesting with it!
– have a look focusmaker.com and let me know what you think.

It looks like a great tool! I have always been hesitant of purchasing a follow focus because most of them use the rail system and may not be compatible to cameras that I would upgrade to. This really seems like a very affordable and universal tool to fit all lenses. Please email me at kineticbear@gmail.com if you would like to arrange for me to make a video using your product!

I can definitely see the influence in your work. I love when a creator cites his influences and inspirations, it really reinforces the value of taking in everything that I can to inform and improve my performance in the things I love doing.
“There is no better time to start than right now,” is pretty close to my own ideology. Striking while the iron is hot and getting the momentum rolling really has a lot to do with getting things done.

Thanks man. I was listening to a discussion today about ideas and innovation, and there was a statement the man made along the lines of “there are people that have ideas, but without passion the ideas will never happen. There has to be a passion in the person the idea is presented to for the idea to become a reality. Ideas need some one to pursue them above all other things and their soul”
