Thoughts on this zombie short?
I have loved this video from day one and I always will. I remember seeing this on the Vimeo staff picks thinking, “oh great another zombie film”, but to my surprise it is one of the best one’s I have ever seen. It is shot extremely well and has no dialogue. The visuals and emotional music composition for this film truly make this a solid watch. It pulls on your emotions in so many ways. I love the way this was color graded as well.
Truly a masterpiece and an influence on how I would shoot, edit, and color a dark fictional short. The locations they chose, the costume design and just about everything really brings this piece together. I mean it is a little bit long for what it tells, but at the same time, I love how it builds up so beautifully. We don’t think of the dead as having any sense of emotion or feeling, but when you connect with him and feel his longing for his lover and see that he is so determined. You feel for him and understand him. It’s rather strange, but moving.
What were you favorite parts about this video?
This spring I will actually be teaming up with a great friend and even some new ones on a short fictional video. We are more than excited about planning, traveling, shooting, editing, and releasing our first short film together as a team. It will be something that we are all proud of and an experience we will never forget. I usually create documentary type material with interviews and non-fictional content, but this will be a good change for me and hopefully open up some new doors.
