Success comes from doing the hard part. When the hard part is all you’ve got, you’re more likely to do it.
And this is precisely why it’s difficult to focus. Because focusing means acknowledging that you just signed up for the hard part.
-Seth Godin
Doing something that is uncomfortable is just plain hard. You have no idea how to face it and we will go to the ends of the earth to find any way out of confronting difficulty.
Yeah I’m talking about you. I do it too. We all do it. We try to find an easy way out of any form of confrontation in our life. Confrontation doesn’t always have to be with another person, sometimes it can be dealing with your own problems. You know you can do better for yourself. You know that that the harder way is the better way. Sadly we are more prone to choosing the easy way.
It’s ok. I do it too. We are in this together.
The problem with choosing the easy way every single time is that it tends to add up. Easy can weigh a lot more in the end. I’m not just talking about your health, I’m talking about your spirit and your passion for things. Sure, poor diet can make you gain weight over a long period of time, but that’s only half of the damage. Poor and “easy” choices in what you do with our life give you a poor spirit and weaken your passions for things.
I make poor choices just like you do. I watch Netlfix more than I should. I overeat or eat things that are not good for me. I spend too much money on things I don’t need. We all have our own troubles in our own unique ways too. Sometimes it can be hard to relate to anyone. Even yourself.
The next time you have a choice to make … think about this …
Doing difficult things is more efficient for yourself than always taking the easy way out. Nothing is learned from easy. Nothing is gained from easy. Difficulty forges us into a better self. There is no other way to do it. There is no cure for laziness other than pure execution against difficulty.
Like Seth Godin said, if you remove other opportunities from your life and just have the hard parts to face, you’re more likely to succeed. Learn to remove faster, easier, and lazy from your life.
Difficult is better. Difficult is faster. Difficult is stronger. When I choose to do difficult things and focus on them, it lifts up other parts of my life too. It’s contagious. It’s awesome.
You need to teach yourself to accept difficulty and more things will just relatively become easier. Oh yeah, you can teach others too. How cool is that?
