Your life can be laid out in verticals.
When you think of the word vertical, you probably think about things that are upright, tall, and dominant. In business, companies tend to divide their services or industry niches into verticals. If software company makes applications, they may specialize in making some for nurses, so they would have a vertical or “niche” called Healthcare.
When it comes to everything we do in our lives, we can see the niches that we have influence in. It is so important that we keep progressing forward and developing ourselves to be even more influential in those areas. Some areas maybe be our education, our health, our career, and even our family.
The specifics just fall into those categories and all of our verticals share very similar traits. We want healthy relationships, success, and improvement in all of them.
In our education we should be aiming to learn more each and every day. Maybe not in a school, but in things we want to become better at and more knowledgeable of. In our health we should be making sure we are keeping our commitments to routines that keep us in shape. In our careers we should be building relationships with those that can lift us up, teach us and enable us to grow. Finally in our family, we should be making sure that we are there for them when they need us and try to solve problems together rather than brush them under the rug.
These verticals are almost the foundation of who we are. When one becomes weak it can break and cause the rest to fall.
It is important to invest in each of them, but we have to be careful not to over invest in one more than the other. Small investments in each make for one solid foundation for all of them like roots in the earth. You should not leave one of them behind because they all matter. They all need to be taken care of.
