It’s been much harder lately for me to write something that I feel is “good.” I tend to give myself pretty high standards for the sake of my own standards. I want to know that what I am writing is worth reading, compelling and something that can help people think differently. I want to help others so that they can begin to understand that how they see a problem isn’t always how it has to be.
Being inspirational, motivational, uplifting and wise is not an easy thing to do. Especially when you try to be that every day of your life. It’s taxing on your mind, your body and your spirit.
It’s like always playing your music on 11. Even when you wake up in the morning. It just isn’t right. As human beings, we are flawed. Perfection is impossible, so why expect perfection from ourselves?
Why can’t we embrace our own imperfections and let them lead us to new things?
Failure doesn’t make you who you are and neither does mediocre work. You are who you are through your choices, not the end result.
On that note, by simply committing to writing, even when it sucks and seems like your worst work, you are showing who you really are. It shows true loyalty to what you wish to honor in life. Just write anything. It keeps the juices flowing, even when they seem insignificant.
Through writing you become a better communicator. You are able to translate your thoughts and concepts into complete ideas so that others can better understand your crazy brain. You are able to teach others what you know by simply writing it down. You can impact the way people feel in just a few sentences.
By becoming a devoted writer you become a devoted person. That my friends, is worth fighting for.

I deal with this EVERY DAY. You are correct that pushing through is the way to go, but I also think there is merit to allowing nothing to be published at all.

Very true. I still feel like there is something to be said about writing, but not publishing. Both have their influences on us. 1. Just pushing yourself to write forces you to overcome lack of motivation and 2. Letting go of that fear of sharing something that we think is less than perfect. It can be amazing how people respond to work that we think is near worthless.
I do love a good break though! :) Rest and prayer can bring amazing clarity.

Ah yes, writing but not publishing would be a better alternative ;)
